Sciath na Scol Final Calling!

A huge congratulations to our football team as they are heading to Páirc Uí Rinn to play in the Sciath na Scol Final! The boys played a local derby semi final against Blarney Street. The performance by both teams  was a credit to both schools as it had everything great about the game of Gaelic Football – skill, heart, determination, drive and a never give up attitude.

Different types of Homes

Senior Infant classes have been studying a unit of work on Houses & Homes. The children have learned all the language associated with different types of homes, looked at materials used in constructing homes and designed and made their own homes and made a 3-d map using them. It’s on display next to the fish tank come and have a look. We think it is fabulous!

Math – Shape & Space

First class have been using their problem solving skills to make human shapes on the carpet and used their problem solving skills to construct shapes with geostrips.  It wasn’t as easy as they first thought as they had to ensure all the sides/edges were the same size.

October Art

Today I took a walk around the school to have a look at some of the lovely art work being done in the classrooms. I’m sure you will all be as impressed as I was!

Maths Week – First class

Last week was maths week and the boys in first class participated in a maths trail using the school environment.   The boys had to use their number skills, measurement skills, estimation strategies, awareness of shape and knowledge of time to solve all the questions on the trail.  The boys worked in groups and the trail was a great success.  A big thank you to Mr. Horgan and his class for helping the younger boys by guiding them along the trail and helping them with the reading element of the task.

C.O.W FUN!

Last Wednesday the boys made a huge effort to dress up and cycle for our C.O.W Day.  Many thanks to all the staff and parents who put in such a huge effort to make costumes and accompany the boys to school.  We had lots of bikes and scooters in the yard and of course plenty of helmets and high visibility vests.  Congratulations to the Green Team.
