London 2012

Last Thursday some of our senior boys represented the school as part of the Cork-London School exchange.

They played in the Gaelic tournament organised by the London schools and received a special medal in honour of the visit. We ,also , attended a football game, Watford v Middlesborough and a great day was had by all. Our trip took us to Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, The Embankment and Big Ben. The boys attended “Blood Brothers” in The West End.

On Sunday ,before our return ,we boarded the Duck Tour for a trip aroun London and on the River Thames.

Ourhost school was Our Lady of Lourdes Finchley and the boys were hosted by families of that school. They had a great time and the London children are looking forward to a return visit to Cork in June and to meet up and stay with our boys.

World Book Day 2012

Today is World Book Day and all of the children in each class have a new book to read. Schools all over the world will have new books to read.

There was a big celebration in our school this week for the boys who have attended school for 100 days this year. Mr. Lynch presented certificates to all of the boys who have reached this milestone. Well Done !!!!!!

Fun Maths in Class

We have started our fun Maths games in class. We have some parents and teachers going into !st and 2nd classes playing the Maths games with the chikdren. This has proved very popular with the boys and the teachers. Parents, Nigel, Paul and Audrey have joined HSCL Teacher Niamh with other teachers in the playing of the games. Well Done!! Any other parents interested are more than welcome to join the team.

GREEN DAY IN SUNDAY’S WELL

A big day took place in our school last week. we had a visit fromm our Green School co-ordinator to assess our energy saving. We are proud to say we passed with flying colours. Well done to Ms. Galvin and our Green School team. To all the boys and staff ,well done!!

Our Christmas concert took place in the school hall. A great show was put on by all of the classes. Great singing ,acting and tin whistle playing. Well done to our parents for their great support. Well done boys!!!Well done all staff !!!

CINEMA TRIP

We went to see Happy Feet 2 in The Gate Cinema . This was done in conjunction with St. Vincent de Paul Christmas food appeal. All the boys brought food to school for this appeal and were rewarded with a free trip to the cinema. Well done boys!!!.A special word of thanks to the local Gádaí who drove some of our children on the Community Bus.

On Friday last ,in Croke the school was nominated for a National Award in Gaelic games promotion. Teacher, Dave Cashman represented the school and received the award on behalf of the pupils and the school Well done to all.!!
